Five Web Design Musts for Every Site Owner

WhenYou're concerned about web design, Denver businesses should take into consideration their customers over anything else. While you want to make sure your site is filled with all of the SEO enhancers that you can find, making a site that's accessible and pleasant for customers is what will keep your traffic numbers up. Here are some tips to make sure you're getting the most out of your web design.
Easy to read pages When customers arrive at a web site that's difficult to read, they tend to leave almost immediately. If you're not presenting clear web design, Denver businesses will see a decrease in their traffic counts and thus their profits. To help ease the reading for the customers, it will help to have large lettering that is simple in style as well as clear links and menu designs that are easy to follow and access.
Fewer colors – While some web sites try to shock a reader into reading what they have to say, this isn't the best technique. When it comes to web design, Denver web sites that use muted colors tend to attract more return customers. It's just not easy to read fluorescent colored pages or pages with conflicting color patterns. But when you use simple black and white with muted color accents, you create a site that is inviting and easy to read.
Simple opt in functions – Too many other sites want to 'show off' what they know about web design. Denver web sites that keep things simple tend to fare better because they're aren't as complicated. Try to limit the features that your customers can use on each page as well as the steps that are required to use them. While you might want to offer new and exciting opt in functions, when your customer can't figure out how to use them, they aren't going to be successful. Also, try not to ask for too much information in the original opt in sections. Customers can be hesitant to provide this information, so they'll avoid it altogether.
Multiple pages with continuous updates – When you continuously update your web pages, it shows your customers that you are as interested in the web site as they should be. In terms of web design, Denver sites that make sure that they have plenty of content are often the most visited by customers. Part of this is because of the fresh content, but another part is due to the fact that search engines rank these kinds of pages higher.
Links to relevant sites and content – By providing multiple venues for your customer to obtain the information they need, you're increasing the efficiency and the usefulness of your web design. Denver businesses that include links to other pages will help customers feel as though you want them to succeed in their search, even if you can't offer them what they need.
For great web design, Denver businesses need to look at their sites from the customer's perspective and not just from the design angle.

Advertising Success with Google Adwords

Whether a small business wants to venture into marketing their product in the internet or an existing online business wants to be successful, they both need to work on increasing the traffic to their websites. The more site visitors they have, the more chances that the business will be successful.
It is crucial indeed for a business to let its market know that it exists. In the online world, traffic to the business’ website, if properly generated, equates to potential customers, and traffic can be increased in many ways. One of this is through search engine optimization or SEO.
SEO is done by placing keywords on strategic points in the website so it can be ranked at the top of search engines. If it is ranked higher in search engines like Google, this means the website can be readily accessible to thousands and millions of online readers in the internet. Because of this opportunity, SEO requires a higher advertising cost. Google Adwords is a cheaper alternative though.
Google is indeed a popularly used search engine and placing links on the most widely used search engine will surely boost your site traffic almost instantly. Google Adwords offers this service to online businesses.
This is done by bidding on a keyword related to the businesses’ website. Every time someone clicks on the link, the business pays a certain amount for it. This is called a Pay Per Click advertising model which is done not only with search engines, but with most other websites as well.
In Google Adwords, the business will be able to measure how effective the keyword is, how effective advertising in certain websites are and of course, this will increase website traffic and thus, increase profit.
When placing links in other websites, one should be careful and choose wisely. He or she should only go with websites that are also related to the business because if not, the chances are the people who visit that website are not interested in your advertisement. This is the beauty of using Adwords. The link or advertisement to your website becomes available to the internet surfer if that person searches for your keyword.
Using PPC advertising is cheap, reliable and very convenient and this could be a good first step in making a small business successful.

Hosting Pay Per Click Advertisements in your Website

The internet is not only a fast and easy way to do a lot of things. From banking to shopping, to communicating, it has also become a quick means of earning money in the comforts of your own home. Though this opportunity is readily available online, this also requires skills, knowledge and expertise.
There are actually many ways to do this, you can do freelance work over the internet, you can trade stocks or foreign currency or you can buy and sell products with the use of a website. But, the most prominent way to make money is by using advertisements in your website.
Advertising plays a huge role in cyberspace. Using a Pay Per Click method, you can earn in your website as long as someone clicks on the link in your website that directs the surfer to another website. You get paid per click, as the name suggests. The rate you can charge your clients would depend however on your own traffic.
The mechanism is similar to non-online advertising such as putting up of billboards. If the location or highway you choose to put up your billboard has huge traffic, advertising costs higher than locations with lesser traffic. Online, there are many ways to improve or create traffic to your website to earn more from advertisements.
Search engine optimization or SEO can be one effective method in increasing traffic on your site. This method uses keywords related to your website so that it will appear at the top of the list in search engines when internet users search for the topic of your site.
Advertising is also a way in increasing your site’s traffic. If you want to earn higher from posting advertisements online, you can also advertise to sites similar than yours. This will give you more site visitors that is an important factor in earning a higher price for posting ads in your site.
Using Google Adwords is still one of the best places to put a link of your website. Google is the most used search engine so the chances of people finding your link and going to your website are higher, but it can be a bit expensive.
It is an investment so to speak because once you have high traffic, then you will be able to generate better profits.

Now Use ANY Font For Your Website Text

Eye-catching fonts and interesting styles are an important — heck, almost necessary — part of every site. That's why Website Font is an invaluable tool for any designer's toolbox. This dynamic program lets you choose cool fonts and modify them to fit your Website, then uses Flash technology to make sure they always display in your visitors' browsers.
Website Font offers awesome fonts from our favorite font foundries, as well as the sIFR Font Maker tool, which lets you convert fonts from your computer to SWF. You can then customize these fonts with a wide array of effects, including bevel, glow, and drop shadow. Step-by-step instructions make previewing and applying the fonts to your Webpage a breeze. It's never been easier to spice up the fonts on site.
Whereas standard HTML and CSS allows a Webmaster to assign any font to a text element, there is no guarantee that it will show up, because the visitor may or may not have the specified font installed on their computer. sIFR, on the other hand, can style Website headings, pull-quotes, and other elements in any font by enabling the designer to embed the font of their choice in a Flash element that displays the text. As a result, the font used does not have to be installed on the visitor's machine, and it is searchable by search engines.
Want to create your own Flash fonts? No problem — just use our free sIFR Font Maker.

How to Build A small - Business web sIte(ToolMaker)

This is the series on building a Web site for your small business. at essential elements of a business Web site.
it comes to setting up your Web presence, entrepreneurs are surprisingly lax. Depending on who you talk to, about half of small businesses do not have a Web site. Most of those will tell you that it's just too complicated, time-consuming and expensive a job to take on. With the availability of free and very low-cost drag and drop Web building tools, however, entrepreneurs have no more excuses for being off-screen.
It's getting harder than ever for all those entrepreneurial types out there to stay ahead of the game. In a world where every penny saved can be a matter of survival, it's good to know that not all parts of running your business have to break your bank account. Take your Web site, for example.

Web Why-Nots
It used to be setting up a site was a major investment and a lot of headaches. Staying on top of content was time consuming, coding was impossible for the technically challenged, updates were painful and slow, and it tended to be a job that fell behind the more important business basics -- like making sales calls, ordering supplies, managing inventory or handling your daily bookkeeping tasks. Paying a few thousand dollars for a third-party service provider to handle all the design , hosting and content management for you was simply beyond available budgets.
However, procrastinating when it comes to your Web site is a big risk these days, Michael Schultz, director of marketing for Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) Office Live Small Business, told TechNewsWorld. "Independent entrepreneurs wonder why they need a site, and think word of mouth is working, but I can't see how anyone can compete without being online. With everyone using search engines and social media, if you don't have a site, you're not in business."
The Tool Makers
Office Live for Small Business is a browser-based service that offers the technically and fiscally challenged of the world a set of free Web building tools that are as easy to use as editing a Word document.
Standard services and tools, such as design templates, site hosting and basic reporting are free. Businesses can also opt for a number of low-cost premium services, such as custom domain name registration, premium e-mail and e-mail marketing, keyword advertising and e-commerce services. They can also integrate other services such as PayPal forpayment processing.
Vinny Lingham, CEO and founder of SynthaSite, had a similar idea when his company came up with its browser-based tool for building sites a few years ago. "The whole idea was to remove the layers of complexity," Lingham told TechnNewsWorld. "We believed browser-based applications were the way of the future. We also felt there was no reason we couldn't put something out there to let anyone build their own sites."
He equates the impact of this type of capability to what Bill Gates did with Windows. "When drag and drop came into being, it changed the game. We're looking at the same kind of game changer. Users can use drag and drop functions, write text, edit files, hit publish and they're live -- just like that.SynthaSite's basic design tools -- such as 70 templates, storage and bandwidth services -- are free, there are additional options that can be had for a relatively low cost, such as a personal domain name registration.
Capturing Customer Data the Easy Way
With a few minutes of extra effort, fledgling Web site builders can also use free Web-based services to create forms for capturing customer data. Depending on your type of business, this is a much more effective strategy than posting a simple "e-mail us" link on a site and responding on an ad hoc basis when inquiries come in.
To help the data capture cause, there are now easy-to-use, no-charge forms services .With these services, users simply visit the site, fill out the required fields, hit enter, and they're ready to collect customer data from their Web sites. So whenever anyone visits your site and fills out the contact form, the data is captured by the service provider and aggregated for reporting.
"A simple form only takes you a few minutes to get up and running on your site. Then we take care of the responses and capturing the data for you to use. You can go to our site to see the number of responses received, aggregate data from multiple choice questions or surveys, and view it in chart form," explained Cedric Savarese, founder developers of FormAssembly.com.
Depending on the volumes, services are free. When traffic is high, you can opt for a subscription plan starting at US$9 a month. The service can also be integrated with for lead generation.
Created by Infinity Box, Wufoo allows you to build forms online to integrate with your Web site. Standard services are free, with additional fees charged based on volumes and security requirements.
"Basically you log in, drag and drop the on-screen interface, fill out the form fields you want and save it," cofounder Ryan Campbell told TechNewsWorld. "Depending on the type of form and your technical expertise, you can use various levels of integration for your Web site, from pasting it on your site, creating a link, or actually downloading source code."
You can also configure the account so that reports -- including graphs and pie charts -- can be sent to you via e-mail, an RSS feed or online reporting.
Even if you have it in your head you can track your own customer data, Campbell said that a big plus for services like Wufoo is that you don't have to worry about privacy and security requirements. "That part of managing data can often be overlooked when you do it yourself. Another thing is spam. You may not have the measures in place when creating things from scratch."
At a time where competition is only going to get stiffer -- and margins thinner -- it's more critical than ever that you take the time to put yourself on the map. Given that even the smallest of small businesses can access free Web site building tools that take a matter of minutes to master, the 50 percent that are behind the game already might want to start rethinking their business strategy.
"Besides the fact that people need to find you, a Web site is a wonderful way to differentiate yourself -- and that's especially important in today's economic environment.

Steps To Good Web Hosting

.The webhosting market is flooded with tens of thousands of different webhosts all offering lots of choices, so how do you decide? The truth is 80% is these hosts all offer great hosting and to avoid the 20% that don’t you just need to follow the following 5 steps.1. Type of hosting platformThe first step when choosing a webhost is to decide on the type of hosting platform, usually a choice between Unix/Linux and Windows.Your choice is largely determined by your website and the technologies used to create it, generally a website created with Microsoft technologies will run on Windows servers while most other sites using open source will run on Unix/Linux based systems, the standard is generally Linux, and due to the fact that you will not be charged licensing fees by Microsoft this is also the cheaper option.2. Hosting FeaturesOnce you've chosen your type of hosting platform the next step is determining the hosting features you will require, for example blogging software requires the use of databases, and any sort of dynamic content will require PHP, you need to look at the make up of your website to decide on your features.Common hosting features are.Disk SpaceData Transfer AllowanceBandwidthBackupsUptimeMoney Back GuaranteeDomains AllowedDatabases (Number & type)CGI, PHP, Perl, Python, SSINumber of Email accounts3. Connection SpeedThe next vital requirement is a good connection, i.e. sufficient bandwidth, this affects the download speed of your website, a good way to check this is to see how fast their site loads in your browser, especially at peak times such as when people are just getting home from work. A good host will have connection redundancy i.e. more than one connection, you can ask about this when you speak to their customer support.4. CostChoosing a webhost based on price alone is not a good idea, remember that the cost of your webhosting is more than just the monthly fee, think about the total cost of ownership this includes lost sales due to downtime & slow speeds, downtime rebates, extra bandwidth charges, setup costs, extra feature costs, and your monthly fee.5. Good Customer SupportIn order to have good customer support a webhost will have to be well established and be running a well organised webhosting business. It is preferable for the support staff to be based at the server farm and essential that they are well trained in server management – it is a good idea to telephone the customer support line of any potential webhost to get a feel for their level of knowledge, you can also ask them about their company infrastructure.6. UptimeIf a webhosting provider has a published uptime of 99% it may sound pretty good, until you realise that over the course of one month equals 7.2hrs or 3.6 days per year – that’s 3days 14 ½ hours that you are not making money. It is therefore imperative that you choose a webhosting companyFree Web Content, which has a 99.99% uptime guarantee.

Domain Registration And Hosting

The first steps in creating any web project are domain name registration and location of web hosting. Although both tasks seem simple enough, there is a great deal to consider. The choices you make for a domain name and web host can effect your site's performance later on.

Domain Registration

Domain name registration means you take ownership of a particular online address. Ownership may be secured for one or a few years at a time. Some companies specialize in domain registration, and handle the entire process. On the other hand, some web hosting companies include domain registration services as part of their packages. Deciding which route best serves your project is a matter of cost effectiveness and convenience.

When deciding up a domain registration service, keep the following in mind:

  • Do you need single domain registration, or multiple domain name registrations?
  • If registering more than one domain name, is the price discounted?
  • Does your domain name require an international registrar?
  • Is there a price difference between your potential domain name registrars?
  • What domain management resources are available after domain registration?
Web Hosting

There are web hosting solutions to fit every possible need. In order to find the best match for your site, you must first evaluate your technology needs, expected traffic, expected growth and budget. Some web hosting providers offer canned hosting packages, and you'll need to find the closest match. Other providers will create a custom package tailored to your specifications. There are many choices available, so it pays to weigh the pros and cons of any potential web hosting service.

To identify your web hosting needs, consider the following:
  • What is your primary concern, the availability of specific technology to power your site, cost, reliability of hosting, etc?
  • Compare your needs with types of possible hosting.
  • Will traffic and storage demands be heavy enough that a server dedicated to your site alone is required?
  • Do you not need the full resources of an entire server? Would shared hosting be adequate?
  • Does it makes sense to own your own server, but situate it at a web host's location?
  • Do you need specific technology supported, such as ecommerce shopping cart, database, Coldfusion, etc?
  • Do you prefer to work with a host located in your area?
By considering these issues fully, you simplify the process of web hosting provider location. Once priorities are identified, finding a reliable web host at a competitive price is possible.

Free hosting allows you to not only create a website, but it helps beginners, no matter how much experience they have. Although there are popup downsides and other annoyances, free web hosting will give you everything that you need. If you are not sure if you even want to extensively design one, Geocities or AngelFire is great to experiment with. Are you looking for something a bit more customized? For many webmasters, shared hosting is a favorite. This means that an abundance of websites are actually on one server. While this only costs a few dollars a month, there are still issues that come along with it. For instance, if a fellow webmaster were to have done something illegal, chances are your website would be shut down as well. This is because you share an IP, which of course can be quite dangerous. For this reason, you must be careful when choosing people to share a host with. While these are great alternatives, many professional companies enjoy dedicated hosting. Fortunately, the website is the only one on the server, which results in a lot less complications. With freedom comes a plethora of features, which include extra bandwidth, visitor trackers, and your own I.P. As a result, you do not have to worry about illegal situations occurring within your server. Everything is based around your needs.Reseller hosting is another admired amenity. If you are a webmaster and are looking to make some extra cash, this is a great opportunity. In simple terms, you purchase a web hosting package from a company and divide the space into several sections. These sections can easily be purchased by fellow webmasters, who are in need of space. With this business in place, you will effortless make a few dollars.Regardless of what you are looking to make, web hosting is necessary. From free companies to dedicated servers with only one website, there are endless opportunities. Although people assume that there is only one type of package, this article clearly shows how wrong the myth can be. The only requirement is that you are ready to work hard, be innovative, and stand out among the crowd. With these factors in mind, you could be to the top in no time. 1.Business Web Hosting.2.Reliable Web hosting.3.Cheap Web hosting.4.Unlimited Web Hostingand Proffessional Hosting

WWW History

"WWW" redirects here. For the Web browser, see WorldWideWeb. For other uses, see WWW (disambiguation). The Web's historic logo designed by Robert Cailliau
The World Wide Web (commonly abbreviated as "the Web") is a system of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via the Internet. With a Web browser, one can view Web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigate between them using hyperlinks. Using concepts from earlier hypertext systems, the World Wide Web was started in 1989 by the English physicist Sir Tim Berners-Lee, now the Director of the World Wide Web Consortium, and later by Robert Cailliau, a Belgian computer scientist, while both were working at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1990, they proposed building a "web of nodes" storing "hypertext pages" viewed by "browsers" on a networkand released that web in December.Connected by the existing Internet, other websites were created, around the world, adding international standards for domain names & the HTML language. Since then, Berners-Lee has played an active role in guiding the development of Web standards (such as the markup languages in which Web pages are composed), and in recent years has advocated his vision of a Semantic Web.
The World Wide Web enabled the spread of information over the Internet through an easy-to-use and flexible format. It thus played an important role in popularizing use of the Internet.Although the two terms are sometimes conflated in popular use, World Wide Web is not synonymous with Internet. The Web is an application built on top of the Internet.

Random Access Memory Chip

Bubble memory,Twistor memoryRandom-access memory (usually known by its acronym, RAM) is a form of computer data storage. Today, it takes the form of integrated circuits that allow stored data to be accessed in any order (i.e., at random). The word random thus refers to the fact that any piece of data can be returned in a constant time, regardless of its physical location and whether or not it is related to the previous piece of data.[1]
By contrast, storage devices such as tapes, magnetic discs and optical discs rely on the physical movement of the recording medium or a reading head. In these devices, the movement takes longer than data transfer, and the retrieval time varies based on the physical location of the next item.
The word RAM is often associated with volatile types of memory (such as DRAM memory modules), where the information is lost after the power is switched off. Many other types of memory are RAM, too, including most types of ROM and flash memory called NOR-Flash.
Types Of Ram:Modern types of writable RAM generally store a bit of data in either the state of a flip-flop, as in SRAM (static RAM), or as a charge in a capacitor (or transistor gate), as in DRAM (dynamic RAM), EPROM, EEPROM and Flash. Some types have circuitry to detect and/or correct random faults called memory errors in the stored data, using parity bits or error correction codes. RAM of the read-only type, ROM, instead uses a metal mask to permanently enable/disable selected transistors, instead of storing a charge in them.
As both SRAM and DRAM are volatile, other forms of computer storage, such as disks and magnetic tapes, have been used as persistent storage in traditional computers. Many newer products instead rely on flash memory to maintain data when not in use, such as PDAs or small music players. Certain personal computers, such as many rugged computers and netbooks, have also replaced magnetic disks with flash drives. With flash memory, only the NOR type is capable of true random access, allowing direct code execution, and is therefore often used instead of ROM; the lower cost NAND type is commonly used for bulk storage in memory cards and solid-state drives.
Similar to a microprocessor, a memory chip is an integrated circuit (IC) made of millions of transistors and capacitors. In the most common form of computer memory, dynamic random access memory (DRAM), a transistor and a capacitor are paired to create a memory cell, which represents a single bit of data. The capacitor holds the bit of information -- a 0 or a 1 . The transistor acts as a switch that lets the control circuitry on the memory chip read the capacitor or change its state.
Other uses of the "RAM" :Other physical devices with read–write capability can have "RAM" in their names: for example, DVD-RAM. "Random access" is also the name of an indexing method: hence, disk storage is often called "random access, Fortran language features#Direct-access files, MBASIC#Files and input/output, Java Platform, Standard Edition#Random access, indexed file ) because the reading head can move relatively quickly from one piece of data to another, and does not have to read all the data in between. However the final "M" is crucial: "RAM" (provided there is no additional term as in "DVD-RAM") always refers to a solid-state device.:RAM disks:Software can "partition" a portion of a computer's RAM, allowing it to act as a much faster hard drive that is called a RAM disk. Unless the memory used is non-volatile, a RAM disk loses the stored data when the computer is shut down. However, volatile memory can retain its data when the computer is shut down if it has a separate power source, usually a battery.

Abot Memory Chip

The Memory Spot chip is an integrated circuit currently in development by Hewlett-Packard. The chip incorporates a central processing unit, random access memory and a wireless receiver, all bundled together in a device 1.4 or 2 mm.
The research done to design and build the chip was done in Hewlett-Packard's laboratory in Bristol.
Hewlett-Packard says that the chip is so small that it can be built into almost any object, and have proposed several possible uses. These include, but are not limited to:
Ensuring that drugs have not been counterfeited
Tagging patients' wristbands in hospitals
Authenticating prescription-pill bottles
Adding multimedia to postcards
Incorporation into books
Storing image files on printed pictures to print an identical copy
HP claim that once the units are in mass-production, they may cost as little as one dollar each.
No batteries are needed because the chips get their power by induction from the devices which read the data.
Current wireless transfer speeds are 10 Mbit/s.

About world Wide Web

Here is a little weekend reading for those DevArticles fans that are interested in the .Net Framework. Enjoy.

What is .NET ?

Since quite some time each person is talking about .NET, but what actually is .NET ? In this Article i will explain you the meaning and the advantages of .NET.

The .NET Framework introduces a completely new model for the programming and deployment of applications. .NET is Microsoft's vision of "software as a service", a development environment in which you can build, create, and deploy your applications and the next generation of components, the ability to use the Web rather than your own computer for various services.

Microsoft introduced great technologies like COM, DCOM, COM+ etc. to enable reuse of Software. Although these technologies are very powerful to reuse Software, they required a huge learning curve. According to this aspect, Microsoft realized that its time to come up with a new Technology, a better one, an easier one, a new Framework, within which each Programming Task is easy accomplished.

The .NET Framework was born:

Microsoft changed all complex tasks with the new .NET Framework. That was a huge advantage for all developers. Most of the Win32 API was now accessible through a very simple Object Model. Most of the features and functions of C++ were added to Visual Basic. A new Programming Language C# was introduced, which offered flexibility and productivity. ASP.NET also called ASP+ replaced ASP.

It provides the easiest and most scalable way to build, deploy and run web services. ASP.NET server controls enable an HTML-like style of declarative programming that let you build great pages with far less code than with classic ASP. VB, C++ and C# Code can be used in other languages f.e. code written in VB can be easily used in C# or in VC++. Also an another benefit is that the you can step between the languages in the debugger.

The .NET Compilation Stages:

The Code written in .NET isn't compiled directly to the executable, instead .NET uses two steps to compile the code. First, the code is compiled to an Intermediate Language called Microsoft Intermediate Language (MSIL). Second, the compiled code will be recompiled with the Common Language Runtime ( CLR ), which converts the code to the machine code. The basic Idea of this two stages was to make the code language independence.

The major Components ( Layers ) of the .NET framework:

The top layer includes user and program interfaces. Windows Forms are a new way to create standard Win32 desktop applications, based on the Windows Foundation Classes (WFC) produced for J++.

Web Forms provide a powerful, forms-based UI for the web. Web Services, which are perhaps the most revolutionary, provide a mechanism for programs to communicate over the Internet using SOAP. Web Services provide an analog of COM and DCOM for object brokering and interfacing, but based on Internet technologies so that allowance is made for integration even with non-Microsoft platforms.

Web Forms and Web Services, comprise the Internet interface portion of .NET, and are implemented through a section of the .NET Framework referred to as ASP.NET. The middle layer includes the next generation of standard system services such as ADO.NET and XML. These services are brought under the control of the framework, making them universally available and standardizing their usage across languages.

The last layer includes system-level capability that a developer would need.
